Damien commenced practice with Butler McIntyre & Butler in 1995 soon after graduating from the University of Tasmania. He became a Partner in 2001.
Damien is an integral member of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution team, practising in the areas of civil and commercial litigation, personal injury and also providing support and expertise to the criminal law team. In addition to appearing in the Supreme Court, Federal Court and Magistrates Court, Damien regularly appears before a variety of tribunals and boards.
Damien also has an interest in franchise law and acts for both franchisors and franchisees. He enjoys drafting and providing opinions on commercial documents and agreements at an early stage so as to identify risks and provide resolutions that prevent litigation at a later time. He has recently developed an expertise in sports law.
Damien has a reputation for his commercial judgment and is highly regarded for his ability to tailor practical solutions to litigious matters in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Damien loves all things sport. Whether it be participating, coaching or watching he and his kids will always have a go. Aligned with that, Damien contributes his time to the Grassroots Sports Club, which raises money to help financially disadvantaged young people participate in sports.
