After completing her law degree at the University of Tasmania, Anna was admitted to the Supreme Court of Tasmania and High Court of Australia in 1997. After practising interstate and overseas, Anna returned to Hobart in 2000 and established a practice in Family Law at Butler McIntyre & Butler.
Anna became a Partner at Butler McIntyre & Butler in 2004, and was appointed Managing Partner in 2018.
Anna has extensive experience in all legal issues relevant to the breakdown of a relationship, whether it be a marriage, de facto relationship or same sex relationship. Anna is able to provide advice about the distribution of property, care arrangements for children, child support, spousal maintenance and surrogacy law.
Anna has a strong working relationship with community based organisations that assist separated parties with the emotional and day to day challenges following the breakdown of a relationship and is able to assist clients access these services.
What underpins Anna’s practice is the desire to assist clients in finding a solution to the myriad of issues they face upon the breakdown of their relationship and balancing that with the maximum legal outcome and the practical considerations for her client and their family.
Anna is on the Independent Children’s Lawyer Panel for the Family Court of Australia and Federal Circuit Court of Australia and the Magistrates Court (child welfare jurisdiction). Anna presents the parenting component of the Family Law Unit taught at the Centre for Legal Studies for graduate solicitors. In addition, Anna is a Board member of the Royal Hobart Hospital Research Foundation.
